Winter Proof your hair~ tips and advice from Hairthurium
Winter Proof your hair! There are many tips and tricks to maintain your hair through the harsh winter months. Hairthurium shares their professional view to treat your tresses right!

Remember that the same elements you fight to keep your skin
looking healthy in winter are attacking your hair as well. Extreme cold and
wind outdoors combined with warm dry air indoors, depletes moisture from your
hair, leaving it dry and prone to damage.
Start by conditioning— and then condition some more!
Hairthurium recommends clients deep-condition once a week to help fortify
strands before they break, while repairing hair that’s already brittle. Hairthurium
recommends Redken ALL-SOFT products with shea butter for its excellent
moisturizing ability. Mixing an oil into the conditioner such as Moroccann Oil or olive oil, make it even more effective.
If your locks are still lackluster, use a daily leave-in
conditioner to maintain moisture and keep hair hydrated. Hairthurium warns
against over-styling with flat irons to prevent further damage. Keep in mind that
dry winter air, plus blow-drying equals static electricity to the extreme. To
stop the flyaways, limit time and temperature with the dryer. If your hair
still won’t behave, spray Static Guard on a brush and brush it through.

While conditioning is essential, there are other ways to
winter-proof. Limit shampooing to three or four times a week. Use a
low-sulfate shampoo to get the benefits of its moisturizing emollients.
Skiers, think of the bright white slopes like a day at the beach: the styling products you use should feature UV protection. Finally, remember that a humidifier in the bedroom benefits your hair as much as your skin, replenishing the moisture that heat steal away while you sleep.
