Women's Gymnastics Team Final

Women's gymnastic final

So its only been 16 years since the USA has won the gold in women's gymnastics . With a team dubbed the Magnificent 7 young women whom have become household names like, Miller, Dawes, Strug and Chow.  I can't even imagine the pressure that faces this years team. The first since 1996 that could win it all again.

After watching Wieber not qualify for the over all competition my palms are already sweating for these girls and particularly for Jordyn Wieber, I really want her to push on and bring home a gold. All the scores will count tonight so the heat is on to make every movement count.

Team USA starts in the vault. Malroney owns this event, the only one she will compete in.   Her vault appear flawless and much to the dismay of the commentators she only scored a 16.233  out of a possible 16.5. Still an amazing start! She was gitty afterwards and the rest of team appeared energized moving ahead. On then uneven bars, Ross had a stunning performance, but Douglas stole this event with a 15.2. Giving the USA only a four tenths of a lead in first place. On the beam, Douglas was once again the picture of grace. Raisman, our home town girl was superb! The girls were so strong in this event.

Heading to the floor event the Fab 5 had a lead over Russia, but it was still theirs to lose.  Russia went the floor needing to give it everything they had.  The quickly had some major miss steps leading to major deductions.  This had me on the edge of my seat! Team USA was so close to busting out. The entire stadium was watching and cheering the girls on. Douglas of never fails to perform like a Olympian, Wieber demonstrated amazing resilience and perfection! They set up Raisman with a nice cushion to bring it all home and that she did!!!  For the first time in 16 years Team USA has gold.  It was so emotional, hanging on to every move. My heart broke several times for Russia as they had many a miss step but watch the Fab 5 come alive and simply dominate in every event was pure excite. I am so proud of this young group they truly are Fabulous!
