PROGRAM: “The history of Uranium Glass”. Jennifer will give a presentation on the
history and making of Uranium Glass.

BIO: Jennifer Rocheleau has always had a fascination with history that began with constructing a scale model of a medieval castle and its environs in her sixth-grade class.

After graduating from Bridgewater State University with a degree in education, she taught in Australia and traveled to New Zealand, Southeast Asia, Nepal, and Europe. On returning to the United States, she taught in both public and private schools, including nine years designing and teaching courses for elementary school students at the Boston Museum of Science.

Jennifer homeschooled her own two children for ten years. During that time she participated in historical reenactments as well as organizing numerous field trips to historical sites in New England. She was the administrator for The Homeschool Connection, a homeschool enrichment program for families in the Derry NH area.

Desiring a career change, Jennifer went back to school and graduated from Rivier University and American College of Education with degrees in nursing. She worked as a school nurse at the primary, middle, and high school levels for 15 years before retiring from public education.

Jennifer now works part time as a nurse at the State House in Concord. She serves on the committee for the restoration of Schoolhouse #12 in Merrimack, slated to open for programs for Merrimack 4th graders next spring. In addition, she is a member of the New Hampshire Nurse Honor Guard, a group that con-ducts ceremonies to honor nurses at their funerals. Jennifer is an auxiliary member of the local VFW in Merrimack. She often jokes
“I’m retiring from retiring.”

In her spare time, Jennifer enjoys camping in her 1961 Shasta “Lucy”, traveling with her husband, gardening, and spending time with her grandchildren.
