John J. Grady, Democrat

Running for state representative

Date of birth: August 10, 1951

Your background /education: Bachelor of Science, Plymouth State College;  M.Ed. Administration, Rivier College

Experience/Occupation:  Retired after 38 years as a teacher and principal in Bedford and Nashua Schools; currently working part time at the Tsongas Industrial History Center which is a part of the UMass Lowell Graduate School of Education. Also a volunteer trolley operator at the Lowell National Park and the Seashore Trolley Museum.

Prior elected office:  One term on the Board of Selectmen; five years as a Trustee of the Merrimack Public Library; eight years on the Merrimack Budget Committee.

Personal: New Hampshire resident for 59 years; Merrimack resident, homeowner and taxpayer for 37 years; Married to Brenda for 39 years, Parents of two adult daughters who attended Merrimack public schools

Priorities: Property tax relief for cities and towns; Adequate funding for the University of New Hampshire System and the Community College System

Why are you running? To work to establish a spirit of respect, collegiality and cooperation in the New Hampshire House rather than the confrontation which now exists.
