Connecticut Fugitive Arrested in Merrimack

Police arrest Marcel Antoine Elliot of West Haven on a Florida warrant after complaints about door-to-door vacuum salespeople trespassing.

MERRIMACK, NH — A service call about a woman trying to get into an apartment complex building led to a fugitive from justice charge against a man from Connecticut earlier this month, according to police. Marcel Antoine Elliot, 41, of Williams Street in West Haven, CT, was arrested on Nov. 10, 2016, on a fugitive from justice charge.

Police were sent to the London Court Apartment complex for a report of a woman attempting to get into buildings on the property. While there, police learned that there was a group going door-to-door trying to sell "a national brand vacuum," Lt. Dean KillKelley of the Merrimack Police Department noted. The complex has numerous signs posted stating that there is no trespassing or solicitation in the buildings, he alleged.

“They were seen getting into a van and leaving the area,” KillKelley stated. “An officer came in contact with this van on Daniel Webster Highway. While checking the four individuals in the van, a warrant notification came back on Elliot out of Coral Springs, FL, indicating he was wanted on two felony warrants pertaining to charges of forged instrument and grand theft.”

Florida officials said they would extradite him, KillKelley said, and Elliot was arrested and held without bail. He was arraigned on Nov. 14.
