Why Southern New Hampshire?

Southern New Hampshire residents lack sufficient alternatives for convenient and cost effective medical care for non-life threatening illness and injury.

Emergency Rooms (ERs)

Residents requiring immediate care beyond the scope, hours, or availability of a primary care provider must visit the ER, where they experience long wait times and high costs. The average wait time for a patient visits to ERs in New Hampshire was approximately four hours in 2009. In addition, patient’s co-pays for an ER visit in New Hampshire is typically between $100 and $250, depending the patient’s insurance plan, and the total cost of a non-life threatening ER visit is approximately $800, which patients will be responsible for in the event their deductable has not been met. In contrast, many patients will pay an office visit co-pay when visiting ConvenientMD and additional expenses are typically not applied to a patient’s deductible for many insurance plans.

ConvenientMD does not replace an ER. Patients with life threatening ailments should proceed to the nearest ER.

Primary Care Physicians (General Practice/ Family Practice, Internal Medicine, or Pediatrics) (PCPs)

The Southern New Hampshire area lacks a sufficient number of PCPs, which results in patients waiting too long for appointments. According to ConvenientMD’s proprietary research, many patients presenting to urgent care centers lack a PCP. Our goal is always to place patients in patient centered medical homes where they can get continuity of care.

ConvenientMD does not replace a patient’s PCP. Rather, ConvenientMD assists patients in establishing a relationship with a local PCP if they don’t already have one. ConvenientMD works in collaboration with community PCPs by providing care for illness and injury beyond the scope, hours or availability of neighborhood PCPs, and referring patients to PCPs to manage long-term health.
