Daniels Praises Signing of Lyme Disease Awareness Month Bill

HB 363 designates May as May Lyme Disease Awareness month.

Today, Gov. Maggie Hassan, D-Exeter, signed into law HB 363, designating May Lyme Disease Awareness month.

State Sen. Gary Daniels, R-Milford, who has been a supporter of this legislation, released the following statement upon the bill’s passage into law.

“I am pleased that the House, Senate and Governor have worked together to make May Lyme Disease Awareness month,” he said. “This bill provides the foundation for promoting public preventive education on Lyme disease on an ongoing basis, and also provides those who live daily with the disease access to additional information that may assist in treatment that ultimately enhances their health and quality of life.”

The Department of Health and Human Services will add a link to the International Lyme and Associated Diseases Society (ILADS.org) on the website as part of education awareness.

“Lyme disease can have debilitating effects on individuals and I believe passing this bill may be one of the most important pieces of legislation we have worked on this session,” Daniels noted.
