Derry Woman Arrested On ID Fraud Charge

Merrimack Police: Mary Louise Watson allegedly opened fraudulent bank accounts in the name off another person in 2016.

MERRIMACK, NH — A Granite State woman was arrested earlier this month on an ID fraud charge after a multi-month investigation, according to police. Mary Louise Watson, 46, of West Broadway in Derry, was arrested on Aug. 2, 2017, on a single count of identity fraud, a felony. According to Sgt. Kenneth MacLeod of the Merrimack Police Department, in November 2016, police began investigating an ID fraud allegation.

“The victim reported that several different bank credit accounts were opened using personal information without permission,” MacLeod stated. “After a lengthy investigation, the officer was able to identify the person who was responsible for opening the accounts without permission as being Mary Louise Watson.” (For more information on this and other neighborhood stories, subscribe to Merrimack NH Patch to receive daily newsletters and breaking news alerts.)

A warrant was issued for her arrest and she turned herself into police earlier this month. Watson was released on $5,000 personal recognizance bail and is due in court on Sept. 12.

Watson, according to a post on Patch, was arrested in July 2013, on a charge of false report to law enforcement.
