My name is Dan Dwyer and I am running for the District Eleven Senate Seat, which includes the towns of Amherst, Merrimack, Milford and Wilton. I will be writing a weekly blog for the Patch in hopes that readers and potential voters will get to know me a little better and will learn about my background, philosophies and goals. Although I will be focusing on state issues I will also give you my take on local and national issues so that you can get a better understanding of what makes me tick.
I was born and raised in Manchester and have been living in Merrimack for 18 years. I have been married for 26 years to Julie (James) Dwyer from Nashua, with whom I have raised three children. I am a graduate of Manchester Memorial High School and Saint Anselm College, Class of 1986. My first job was as a paper boy at 12 years of age where I learned the importance of working hard, doing a good job and treating people right, values which I continue to practice every day. I paid my way through college working for the Manchester Water Works. Upon graduating from college I worked as a supervisor for the United Parcel Services (UPS) and after I left UPS I spent the next 14 years in sales and marketing for Shrink Packaging Systems while at the same time being involved in various partnerships with real estate development in the Manchester area. I have also worked as a Guardian Ad Litem court appointed family investigator for the state of New Hampshire. Seven years ago I co-founded Silver Chariot, a limousine service based in Merrimack, which I continue to own and operate.
While still in college I was elected to and served in the NH House of Representatives representing Manchester. I have been involved in community service in Merrimack since moving to town. I currently serve on the Town Council. I have also been a Merrimack Youth Association ( MYA) coach for basketball and soccer, served on the 2006 and 2007 Merrimack Flood Relief Associations, served on the Economic Development Commission and am a founding member and organizer of the Merrimack Fall Festival and Business Expo as well as the co founder of The Merrimack Business Association

Professionalism, determination and a commitment to conservative principals and limited government involvement in our lives is what I will bring to Concord when elected to State Senate. I come from a working class New Hampshire family and I promise I will never forget my roots. I am going to Concord to work hard and serve the people of Amherst, Merrimack, Milford and Wilton. It’s that simple.
