Eight RadioShack Locations in NH to Close

Nearly 1,800 stores will shutter as part of restructuring effort to save the company.

RadioShack will close about 1,784 stores around the world including locations in Bedford, Merrimack, Salem, and Portsmouth, as part of a restructuring effort to save the struggling electronics retail outlet, according to a Fox News Business Report.

The closure announcement was first discussed about a year ago when the company reported more than $400 million in losses in 2013 and suggested it might need to close 1,100 stores.

Other Granite State locations that will be closing include stores in Belmont, Goffstown, Lee, and Pelham.

RadioShack filed for bankruptcy and began liquidation sales last week, according to reports.

The other 4,000-plus locations are being sold to General Wireless. Of those, Sprint will take over about 1,750 of the locations and will work on a co-branding initiative with RadioShack.
