Elbit Systems of America is named The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society 2013 Volunteer of the Year

Merrimack, NH Company is named the 2013 Volunteer of the Year Award Winner

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Massachusetts Chapter, which also serves patients in New Hampshire, named Elbit Systems of America, LLC, in Merrimack, NH the winners of the 2013 Volunteer of the Year Award on June 20, 2013 at the annual Volunteer Appreciation Night.

The annual Volunteer of the Year Award was established in honor of Dr. Charles Hoffman, Jr., who died in November of 1998 after a long and courageous battle with leukemia.  Dr. Hoffman’s son generously gave the Massachusetts Chapter of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society a gift for which the organization’s Board of Trustees established the annual Volunteer of the Year Award as a lasting tribute to Dr. Hoffman.

Yuval Ramon, Senior VP of Operations at Elbit Systems of America, LLC and Massachusetts Chapter Trustee, has been instrumental in the incredible success of Elbit Systems of America’s Light The Night Walk Team. He first got involved when he lived in Texas. His CEO and good friend’s wife was diagnosed with a blood cancer. He volunteered to participate in the Light The Night Walk in Texas as Team Captain for Elbit’s team. He later moved to the Northeast where he continued his involvement with LLS and the Light The Night Walk with the Nashua walk site.

He started the first Light The Night team for Elbit’s Merrimack, NH office in 2008, and he and the company have participated every year since. Yuval has been the Corporate Walk Chair for the Nashua walk and has partnered with Elbit staff including Jennifer Vaskelionis and Real Madore, just to name a few, to make this walk a huge success. Additionally, Elbit fundraises year round to support LLS. They have participated in our Team In Training program, Employee Giving, Gala for a Cure, and recently they launched a program called the Vitality Program. This program encourages wellness by rewarding employees with points to be used toward discounts on their health benefits. Employees earn points by participating in events like Light The Night and Team In Training.

To date, Elbit Systems in Merrimack has raised a total of $116,931, just through the Light The Night Walk. They have participated as a national partner over the past several years and have raised significant funds in support of our mission. Elbit has helped to create awareness about LLS in the community and has been a wonderful friend and partner to the Chapter. For all of these accomplishments and for their dedication and commitment, Elbit Systems of America was presented with the Dr. Charles Hoffman, Jr. Volunteer of the Year Award.
