Elderly Hollis Man Arrested For Drunk Driving

Merrimack Police: Paul Tumas was allegedly speeding on Continental Boulevard last week.

MERRIMACK, NH — A southern New Hampshire man is due in court later this week after being arrested for drunk driving, according to police. Paul Tumas, 67, of Marion Drive in Hollis, was arrested on Aug. 9, 2017, for operating under the influence-liquor and speed. At around 1:15 a.m. last Wednesday, an officer reportedly observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on Continental Boulevard, according to Sgt. Chris Spillane of the Merrimack Police Department.

“While addressing the speed violation with Tumas, the officer observed signs of impairment,” Spillane stated. “Upon further investigation and after submitting to voluntary field sobriety tests, Tumas was arrested for OUIL.”

Tumas was taken to headquarters, processed, and released on personal recognizance bail. He’s due in court on Aug. 17.
