Elderly Merrimack Man Spits In Police Officer’s Face: Report

A 911 call about a fight and smashed items on a kitchen floor led to Dennis Zibolis being arrested last week for assault and resisting.

MERRIMACK, NH — A local man was arrested on charges after a fight of a home in town, according to police. Dennis Zibolis, 71, of Naticook Road in Merrimack, was arrested on Feb. 23, 2018, and charged simple assault on a police officer and resisting arrest. Police were sent to a home in town at around 4:15 p.m. for a report of a fight between two men, Sgt. Dennis Foley noted in a press release.

“While en route, officers were being updated that (Zibolis) was removing items from the refrigerator and smashing them on the kitchen floor,” Foley alleged. “Once on scene, officers spoke with the involved family members. While speaking with Zibolis, officers made several observations about his sobriety along with making numerous efforts to control his belligerent behavior and while attempting to do so, he spat in an officer’s face.”

Zibolis was arrested and while attempting to place him custody, he allegedly resisted. Later, he was taken into police headquarters, processed, and released on personal recognizance bail. Zibolis will be arraigned on March 8.
