Eversource Energy has asked New Hampshire regulators to reduce its average overall rates by more than 7.5 percent beginning July 1, according to a press statement. The request, issued on June 11, comes from a reduction in the company’s Energy Service Charge, largely attributable to lower than anticipated wholesale market energy prices.
Eversource’s charges are set by state regulators to reflect the company’s actual costs. In its filing today with the New Hampshire Public Utilities Commission, Eversource has requested a reduction in its Energy Service Charge to 8.98 cents per kilowatt hour (kWh) from the current 10.56 cents/kWh and has requested slight increases in its Distribution, Transmission, and Stranded Cost Recovery charges.
If the filing is approved, a residential customer purchasing 500 kWh/month from Eversource will see a monthly bill reduction of more than six dollars, from $97.16 to $91.03.
