
Barring any major changes in a recount, state Sen. Peter Bragdon, R-Milford, will return to lead the State Senate as president.
Republicans caucused recently and decided that Bragdon deserves another two-year term, according to a press statement.
After the general election, Republicans appear to hold a 13-11 vote in the body of 24 members.

In the District 9 race, Andy Sanborn, R-Bedford, beat Democrat Lee Nyquist by 210 votes. Nyquist which will need to be held before Nov. 14, at the latest, according to state law.
If the Republicans hold the seat and there isn’t a last minute revolt, Bragdon is a shoo-in for the presidency.

Bragdon said he would be focusing on working with Democrats to craft a balanced budget and pursue a pro-business agenda focused on job creation.
The Senate meets on Dec. 5, to elect the president.
