Guinta Visits Portsmouth Naval Shipyard

U.S. Rep. Frank Guinta, R-NH, visited the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard (PNSY) on March 11, to receive an updated command brief and tour the new Naval Learning Centers, according to a press statement.

Representatives from PNSY discussed their work overhauling nuclear submarines and ways in which the Congressman could continue his efforts toward ensuring PNSY continues to flourish.

“The Portsmouth Naval Shipyard continues the tradition of excellence and service to the Navy, the Granite State and our country by supplying and maintaining the U.S. Navy’s submarine fleet. As one of the largest economic engines in New Hampshire, I remain committed to ensuring the Shipyard has the necessary resources and support from Congress to continue to meet the needs of our defense, grow our local economy and remain a leader in the nuclear submarine industry.”

The Portsmouth Naval Shipyard employs approximately 4,700 civilian on its 297-acre base with plans of growing its workforce to 5,200 civilian employees as it works to overhaul the Navy’s submarines. PNSY has converted two of its four Power Plant boilers to natural gas, part of an award-winning comprehensive energy management program.
