Holiday cheer at the Independent Karate School

On Saturday, December 21, from 10 am to 1 pm at our Nashua location (138 Lake Street), the Independent Karate School will be holding its annual Holiday Party.

Every year, our students, instructors, and family members enjoy this event very much.  The school provides a pizza lunch, and parents bring goodies for dessert.   The head instructors organize a variety of activities, by tradition including a super-duper all-ages game of Simon Says. May the best listener prevail!  The younger students look forward to the "moonrocks" game, in which they can advance if they hit one of our nimble teenage black belts--with a "rock" make of soft foam rubber.

Bearing in mind the many needs of our community, the Independent Karate School also takes this opportunity to support the Nashua Children's Home.  Everyone attending the party is asked to bring an unwrapped toy or gift card to donate.

I still remember attending the IKS Holiday Party for the first time with my then eight- and five-year-old children and wondering to myself, "Who are these people?  Who are these grown men with full-time jobs who have chosen to spend the Saturday before Christmas running a party for kids?"

Now I know.  They are the senior instructors of the Independent Karate School.  They do many thoughtful things that they don't really have to do.

On Saturday the 21st, no children's classes will be held in Nashua--just the party!  Students attending should wear comfortable clothes rather than their uniforms.  In the meantime, our class in Merrimack meets tonight (Thursday) as usual, at 6 pm at the VFW post near the Common Man.  Feel free to stop by and see what we do!
