On December 31, 2021 at 9pm, local Republican legislators who supported HB 2 gathered at the Exit 10 toll to watch its closure. The budget which passed earlier this year (HB 2) eliminated the last of the Merrimack tolls. See the press release here. Watch the video here.

- HB 478 – Filter Payments Beyond 2025:

Due to an extraordinary team effort by Merrimack State Representatives and community activists, HB 478 passed through the House on January 6, 2022. The bill would make Saint Gobain pay for filtration in water tanks 4 and 5 beyond the year 2025. Now HB 478 is on to the N.H. State Senate. Those interested in submitting testimony in support should email the State Senate (Senators@leg.state.nh.us). The full text of the bill is here.

- A Bill to Exempt Tolls for Veteran Funeral Processions (HB 1449-FN):

The season for introducing bills has begun. This week, HB 1449-FN to allow veteran funeral processions to be toll exempt on the turnpike will be heard in the Public Works and Highway Committee. Those interested in submitting testimony in support should email the House Committee (HousePublicWorksandHighways@leg.state.nh.us). The full text of the bill is here.

- Tribute to former Merrimack Reps. Balcom, Elliott and Pellegrino:

At the end of the House session on January 5, 2022, I requested “Unanimous Consent” to read a tribute I wrote for three former State Representatives. Reps. Balcom, Elliott and Pellegrino were truly devoted to the Merrimack community. See the full tribute here.

- Community Happenings:

Wreaths Across America came to Merrimack on December 13, 2021 aboard patriotically decorated trucks with police escorts to deliver 500+ wreaths for the graves of Veterans at Last Rest Ceremony. On a snowy Saturday, December 18, 2021, over 200 volunteers laid the wreaths at the headstones of Veterans while saying their names aloud. I was proud to part of this beautiful tribute to the men and women who served in our country’s uniform. www.wreathsacrossAmerica.org.
