Legislative Updates by Rep. Maureen Mooney for June, 2023
Congratulations to Merrimack High School Class of 2023 and legislative updates on a selection of interesting bills this session.
First and foremost, I want to wish the Merrimack High School Class of 2023 all the best and congratulations! As a community, we can be very proud of these graduates!
Here are legislative updates on a selection of interesting bills this session:
HB 207-FN (AN ACT relative to school district unanticipated funds): Current law requires that unanticipated funds of $5,000 or more for school districts have a public hearing prior to being accepted. HB 207 was recently signed into law increasing that amount to $20,000 before notice and a public hearing are required. See text of HB 207 here: https://www.gencourt.state.nh.us/bill_status/pdf.aspx?id=12777&q=billVersion

State Budget Update: The state budget, as amended by the House and Senate (HB 1 and HB 2), is on its way to the Governor’s desk for a signature! Amazingly, the budget passed this year without the complexities of a Committee of Conference. This demonstrates the ability of the House and Senate to work together. A special thank you to those that contacted me with important input on the state budget.
See you around town!
