The Governor has vetoed ten House bills. The Governor has authority to veto bills per the NH Constitution, Part II, Article 44. The full N.H. House will vote whether to concur or override the vetoes on October 10, 2024. Here are three of the ten bills:
HB 396 – AN ACT permitting classification of individuals based on biological sex under certain limited circumstances. This bill provides classification of biological sex for bathrooms, locker rooms, sporting events, prisons, and juvenile detention facilities. The Governor vetoed this bill citing that it “seeks to solve problems that have not presented themselves” and “invites unnecessary discord.”
HB 1093 – AN ACT prohibiting mask policies in schools. This bill prohibits school boards or superintendents from adopting, enforcing, or implementing mandatory facial coverings for any purpose. The Governor vetoed this bill citing its encroachment on local control.
HB 1415 - AN ACT relative to PFAS facility liability. This bill provides that any person who owns or operates a facility where a release of PFAS of a certain part per trillion shall be subject to regulations. The Governor vetoed the bill stating that the definition of a PFAS facility is too broad, and the concentrations are at different (and conflicting) standards in recently signed HB 1649.
