Will hold three events for people to recognize tragedy that struck April 14, 1912.

The Merrimack Public Library is holding the below events this week to honor the 100th Annivesary of the Titanic.

Remembering Titanic: Movie and “Dinner”

Tuesday, April 10, 6-9 p.m.

One hundred years ago today the RMS Titanic set sail on her maiden, and tragically, final voyage. Join us to view the 1958 film based on Walter Lord's best-seller A Night to Remember. This film has been described as the most accurate of all Titanic movies, especially for its social realism. Those attending will enjoy light refreshments that reflect the disparity of onboard conditions for the wealthy and not-so wealthy. This showing is open to adults and teens. Registration is helpful for planning purposes but not required.

Remembering Titanic: John Horrigan on the Titanic

Thursday, April 12, 7-8:30 pm

Historical lecturer John Horrigan's talk about the RMS Titanic's single, fateful voyage will be enhanced with a slide show presentation. Learn about the special features that made Titanic one of the most technically advanced ships of its time. Horrigan will explore the facts, myths and legends surrounding Titanic and explain about how modern technology is helping historians delve into the truth of Titanic's untimely end. There will also be an exhibit of ship manifests, passenger lists, books, magazines, and photos. This is John Horrigan's second visit to the Merrimack Library. In the 2010 "One Book, One Town" series he presented the story of the Hurricane of '38. Open to adults and teens; registration is recommended but not required.
