MacDonald: Oh, Look, We’re Vermont

Vermont took a turn in 2024 but has turned back. Moderate Republican Phil Scott can still veto bills sent to him by his Democrat-led legislature, but it’s unclear whether they will once again achieve veto-proof majorities. The last time that happened, the Dems drove a stake in the heart of the state, and NH Dems want that too.

NH voters just about gave it to them. We are one Senate seat away from Democrats being able to pass anything they want and override any veto moderate Republican Kelly Ayotte might make.

Job 1 for the Democrat majority is to turn us into Vermont as fast as they can, which is bad.

Vermont has some of the highest taxes in the nation. Businesses are fleeing, and so are jobs. It is effectively a sanctuary state with rising crime and declining quality of life, and Vermonters voted for more of that.

So did Granite Staters.
