Man Arrested for Reckless Driving, Child Endangerment

MERRIMACK, NH - A local man was arrested yesterday after a traffic stop for speeding with a toddler in his car, according to police.

Ian M. Hawes, 22, of Roedean Drive in Nashua, was arrested on Jan. 25, 2016, for reckless driving and child endangerment.

According to police, an officer saw a vehicle operating at a high rate of speed on Route 101A near Hall Avenue. The vehicle was clocked at 76 mph, according to police, in a 40 mph zone.

“The vehicle was further observed to be weaving in and out of moderate to heavy traffic,” according to Lt. Matthew Tarleton of the Merrimack Police Department.

The officer stopped the vehicle and while speaking to Hawes, reportedly saw a child, a 2-year-old, in a rear passenger seat. Hawes was then arrested. He was processed and released on $2,500 personal recognizance bail. Hawes is due in court on Jan. 28.

According to online reports, Hawes was arrested in April 2013 for conduct after an accident in Nashua. In December 2013, he was arrested for nonpayment of a fine. At this time last year, he was arrested for facilitating a drug/underage alcohol house party in Nashua.
