Man Arrested for Violation of a Protective Order

Merrimack Police get an assist in Amherst in arresting Justin Dutton.

A local man was arrested on Oct. 19, on a Merrimack warrant.

Justin Dutton, 32, of Merrimack, was arrested and charged with violation of a protective order. He was held without bail and arraigned on Nashua District Court earlier today.

According to police, Dutton was arrested by the Amherst Police Department on a warrant. The warrant stemmed from an investigation that started on July 30, with it was reported that Dutton allegedly went into a residence and left a note to a person who had was a protected party with an order against Dutton.

“The order prohibited Mr. Dutton from these actions,” according to Sgt. Ted Dillon. “A warrant was drafted and went into effect that same day for the Offense of Violating a Protective Order.”

Dutton was arrested and processed and later, brought to the Hillsborough County Jail where he was held.

About 18 months ago, according to a post on Patch, Dutton was arrested for a domestic-related simple assault. In 2009, he was arrested for receiving stolen property in Hudson, according to The Lowell Sun.
