Man Steals Truck in Litchfield, Gets Arrested in Merrimack

A local man is facing a felony receiving stolen property charge after allegedly stealing a truck in one town and then getting bagged in another.

Benjamin Sherman, of an unknown address, was arrested on Aug. 16, on the charge.

According to a police report, at around 10 a.m. on Aug. 16, police in Merrimack received a tip from Litchfield Police that a resident of their town had reported a theft of a truck that morning. Police stated that the GPS unit in the truck was checked and was currently located on Meetinghouse Road in Merrimack.

Police went to the scene and allegedly found Sherman “standing near the stolen truck with both doors open,” according to the report from Sgt. Joseph Goodridge.

Sherman was arrested and held on $5,000 cash bail and arraigned on Aug. 18.

Goodridge added that due to the number of recent motor vehicle thefts in the area, the case was still under investigation and more charges could be issued.
