Man Who Injured One in 3-Car Accident Charged

The following arrest information was provided by Merrimack Police. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

The Merrimack man who caused at the Exit 10 on ramp to the F.E. Everett Turnpike on March has been arrested for vehicular assault.

Nicholas Shea, 29, of 24 Windsor Drive, Merrimack, allegedly turned himself in to on March 27 after learning a warrant had been issued for his arrest. Shea allegedly made an unsafe lane change colliding with a vehicle that then hit another vehicle. The operator of that middle vehicle, Carolyn Mail, of Nashua, was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries, police say. Shea was released on $2,500 personal recognizance bail and ordered to appear at Merrimack's district court on May 8.

Jacob Gawthorp, 18, of 24 Wire Road, Merrimack, was charged with three counts sale of controlled drug. Thursday, March 8, at around 8:40 p.m., police say they executed a warrant at Gawthorp's home for sale of marijuana. The warrant stems from an investigation that began in January, police say. Gawthorp was released on $1,000 cash bail and ordered to appear in Merrimack's district court on May 8.

Kelli Akatyszewski, 27, of Turkey Hill Road, Merrimack, for three counts of domestic simple assault of a household member. Police say they were called to a domicile on Turkey Hill Road on March 25 around 2:06 a.m. to investigate a domestic disturbance. Akatyszewski was released on $3,000 personal recognizance bail and was scheduled to appear in court on March 26.

Janet Phippard, 60, of 17 Terrace St., Apt. C, Nashua, was charged with driving while intoxicated and conduct after an accident. On March 24, police say they were dispatched to an accident with a guardrail on Daniel Webster Highway around 12:49 p.m. The operator reportedly left the scene but police were given a description of the 2004 Ford Focus and it was located a short time later. Phippard was arrested and place on $1,500 personal recognizance bail. She was ordered to appear in Merrimack's district court on May 8 to answer to the charges.

Taylor Jane Gallant, 21, of 14 Jody Lane, Hampstead, was charged with aggravated operating under the influence of liquor. At 1:56 a.m. on March 27, an officer stopped a Ford Explorer on Daniel Webster Highway for a motor vehicle violation. The officer could smell alcohol on Gallant's breath and after further investigation, he arrested her. She was released on $2,000 personal recognizance bail and is scheduled to appear in Merrimack's district court on May 8.
