An officer was sent to the mall after a business reported suspicions about a customer who had four credit cards get declined before the fifth one was accepted. The officer found the man – Bautista – and while trying to perform an investigation, he allegedly fled. A foot chase ensued but he officer caught Bautista and arrested him.

“(The officer) found approximately 26 debit/credit cards on his person,” according to Sgt. Cassell of the Merrimack Police Department. “The majority were loose cards in his pockets. 10 of them had different names on them.”

Officers recovered receipts from a number of stores and allegedly found video of Bautista making purchases at Nike, Polo, American Eagle, and Solstice Sunglasses stores with cards that did not belong to him.

“A card scanner was used and almost all of the cards that Amaurys had on him had contradictory account numbers/information imprinted in the magnetic strips on the back, vs. what is embossed on the front,” according to Cassell.

Amaurys was held on $10,000 cash bail and was arraigned yesterday.
