Massachusetts Man Charged with Sexually Assaulting Child

Joshua McCarthy of Waltham was arrested, arraigned on six felony counts today.

A Massachusetts man is being held on $100,000 cash bail after being arrested and arraigned on charges that he sexually assaulted a child under 13.

Joshua J. McCarthy, 34, of Prentice Street in Waltham, MA, was arrested on March 9, 2015, on six counts of aggravated felonious sexual assault.

According to Detective Scott Park of the Merrimack Police Department, the investigation into McCarthy and the allegation that he assaulted a local child took “several months.”

Police took custody of McCarthy at the Middlesex County Department of Corrections in Billerica and he was transported back to Merrimack to be arraigned in District Court. He is being held on $100,000 cash bail at the Valley Street Jail in Manchester.

A probable cause hearing is scheduled for 9 a.m. on March 17.
