Merrimack 2023 Town And School Election Voter’s Guide

Here is everything you need to know about the April 11 town and school elections in Merrimack, New Hampshire.

MERRIMACK, NH — Voters in Merrimack go to the polls on April 11 to make decisions about town and school budgets as well as political positions, warrant articles, and other issues.

Here is what you need to know.

Voting

Merrimack voters will cast ballots between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. at the following three locations:

  • James Mastricola Upper Elementary School All-Purpose Room, 26 Baboosic Lake Road.
  • Merrimack Middle School, 31 Madeline Bennett Lane.
  • St. John Neumann Church, 708 Milford Road (Route 101A).

Town Races, Info

The town council race is the only competitive race this year. Charles Lafond, MacKenzie Murphy, Finlay Rothhaus, David Trippett, and Wolfram von Schoen are on the ballot seeking two three-year seats.

Sara Locke and Jennifer McCormack are running for two three-year seats on the ethics committee.

Jennifer Jobin and Robert Reisman are seeking two three-year library trustee seats.

Elizabeth Petrides is the single trustee of the trust fund candidate on the ballot for the three-year seat.

Town voters will consider a $38.8 million operating budget or a $35.3 million default budget. They will also consider $1.9 million for equipment and capital reserve trust fund transfers. Voters will consider $550,000 in sewer infrastructure and a collective bargaining agreement with town firefighters, police, highway, public works, and other employees.

School Info, Races

There is a single competitive race for the two-year budget committee seat on the school ballot: Jennifer McCormack and Heather Robitaille are seeking the position.

Laurie Rothhaus is running for a three-year school board seat.

Finlay Rotthaus and Tim Groff seek to serve on the two three-year planning and building committee positions.

Four candidates seek four three-year seats on the budget committee: Dan Coakley, Michelle Mackey, Chuck Mower, and Naomi Schoenfeld.

Rachel Paepke is also seeking the one-year budget committee seat.

School district voters will also consider a collective bargaining agreement with the Merrimack Teachers Association. They will also consider a $1.1 million repair to the roof on the Mastricola Upper Elementary School. The district has forwarded a $88.4 million budget for voters to consider or $87.2 million default budget.
