Over 100 snowplow and deicing contractors of all sizes attended this first annual Salt Symposium in Windham to hear from experts on how to maintain safe parking lots, roads, and walkways while reducing the use of salt. The symposium is part of the NH Certified Green SnowPro program and is sponsored by the NHDES, UNH Technology Transfer, and the Snow and Ice Management Association. With the potential for road salt to pollute water, the goal of the program is to improve efficiency in salt use and to ensure safe conditions for pedestrians and vehicles while using less salt. The Salt Shaker Award recipients are industry leaders working towards that goal.
