Merrimack Friends and Families Sends 5 Local Kids to YMCA Camp Sargent

Merrimack Friends and Families, a social and service organization, has made a generous donation of $750 to the YMCA of Greater Nashua in support of summer camperships for five local children. This donation will allow needy and deserving children to experience Camp Sargent, the Y’s day camp on Lake Naticook.

“We are grateful to the Merrimack Friends and Families club for their ongoing support of our youth programs. It’s particularly wonderful to have another community organization help us expand our reach,” said Mike LaChance, CEO of YMCA of Greater Nashua.

“Like most nonprofits, one of our goals each year is to give back to the community. It prides us to donate a portion of our charitable funds to the YMCA. What better way to serve the community than to support these kids who may someday be leading our community! We only wish we had more to give,” said Jill Mitchell, Co-President of Merrimack Friends & Families.

Every day, YMCA of Greater Nashua facilities serve as gathering places for the community. Kids pour in after school to play and do homework. Seniors connect with one another through exercise classes and group activities. Families learn how to eat healthy and grow together.  Teens spend time with their friends and get involved in leadership programs. To ensure that the Y can continue to provide those who need us the most with life-enhancing services and programs, the YMCA of Greater Nashua is conducts an annual community support campaign.

As a leading nonprofit for strengthening community, financial gifts to the Y ensure that no one is turned away from participating in Y programs and services due to inability to pay. And, gifts to the Y stay right here in the community, having a direct impact on those living in the Greater Nashua area. Last year, financial support made it possible for 2,200 local kids, families and adults to experience the Y at significantly reduced costs; in programs such as child care, summer day camp, wellness, sports, dance & arts, and enrichment. This assistance was valued at over $453,199.
