Merrimack High School Top 10 For 2026: Ian Desilets, No. 4

Desilets enjoyed AP classes, band, and the Science Olympiad team. He will be attending Tufts University to study Environmental Engineering.

MERRIMACK, NH — Ian Desilets is grateful and honored to be a member of the Top 10 for Merrimack High School’s graduating Class of 2026.

He would like to thank his biggest fans, Sophia, Natalie, Mom, and Dad, as well as his friends and teachers. Their unwavering love and support have helped him grow into the person he is today.

Throughout high school, Ian has sought to challenge himself academically, enrolling in many AP and honors courses, especially those emphasizing math and science. Some of his favorite classes have included AP Chemistry, AP Calculus and AP Physics. Ian has also explored his academic interests outside of the classroom as a captain of the MHS Science Olympiad team, winning medals at several state competitions.

Ian is a member of the National Honor Society, National Math Honor Society, and Science National Honor Society and currently serves as the Community Outreach Officer for SNHS.

Outside of the community service he does with these organizations, Ian has volunteered as a camp counselor at Camp Invention for six years.

Ian has always enjoyed the outdoors and found a passion for hiking during high school. He has hiked 23 of NH’s 48 4000-foot mountains, and is the proud founder of the MHS Outdoors Club.

Of all his high school experiences, Ian’s involvement in the music program has always been his favorite. Ian is a proud member of the MHS Concert, Marching, and Jazz bands, and currently serves as the band president and saxophone section leader. He is a two-time NHMEA All-State musician and plays alto saxophone in the Perimeter Jazz Ensemble.

Ian is thrilled to be attending Tufts University in the fall to study Environmental Engineering with a minor in music.
