Merrimack Lions Club 4th of July Parade Float

The club made a float for the first time this year. While we marched last year, this time we took a big jump to decorate a truck.

In June Merrimack Lions Club members made the decision to enter the parade with a decorated float rather than just use a truck. After several planning meetings, a truck was donated by North Country Towing and Recovery. The truck was parked in a member's yard and planning began. The idea of decorating chicken wire on a frame with crepe paper came from a member who helped make floats for college competitions. Sounds fairly easy? Yes, but moving the frames from the home to the Merrimack Commons some of the paper came loose and had to be refastened. Something to consider for next time. We secured position "C" in the parade and after waiting for an hour, the parade began on time. Other members walked along the route to hand out flyers on the free movie on the 5th of July.
