Merrimack Man Arrested After Assault Incident
Police arrest local habitual offender Joshua Corbett on false imprisonment, theft, other charges after domestic violence incident last week.

A local man is facing a slew of charges after a domestic assault incident in town late last week.
Joshua Corbett, 26, of Naticook Road in Merrimack, was arrested on Nov. 20, 2015, and charged with two counts of domestic violence-simple assault, domestic violence-false imprisonment, theft by unauthorized taking, and being a habitual offender.

Officers were sent to a local home after being called about a domestic disturbance.
When they arrived at the scene, they spoke to a victim who was reportedly in a previous relationship with Corbett and alleged that he “grabbed (the victim) during an argument and also used his body to prevent (the victim) from leaving the residence,” according Sgt. Kenneth MacLeod.

“The victim also reported that Corbett took their cell phone from them and that they also observed Corbett operating a motor vehicle while being a certified habitual offender,” according to the report.
Police caught up with Corbett later and he was arrested and held on $5,000 cash bail. He was arraigned on the charges on Nov. 23.
According to online reports, Corbett has a lengthy criminal history.
Corbett was arrested by New Hampshire State Police in October 2007, when he was 18, for DWI and driving after suspension.
He was arrested in April 2010 for criminal threatening-domestic violence in Merrimack. In Nashua, he was arrested in October 2010, for driving after revocation or suspension, second offense, and again in Seabrook with operating a motor vehicle without a license that month.
In December 2010, he was arrested in Milford while he was a passenger in a friend’s truck that allegedly tore up trails on a farm in that community with a truck. Corbett was charged with criminal trespass.
In August 2013, he was also arrested in Nashua for habitual offender and false inspection sticker.
