Merrimack Man Arrested, Allegedly Pushes Cop
Stephen Shea was charged with assault and resisting while being taken into custody for allegedly violating a restraining order.

MERRIMACK, NH — A local man was arrested last week after allegedly assaulting a police officer, according to a report. Stephen Shea, 40, of Rainier Court in Merrimack, was arrested on Dec. 2, 2017, for simple assault and resisting arrest. At around 7:30 p.m., dispatch reportedly received a call from Shea advising that he “had violated an order of protection by contacting the protected person involved and was expecting Merrimack officers to arrive at his residence to arrest him,” according to William Gudzinowicz of the Merrimack Police Department.

Officers investigated the claim, confirmed that Shea reportedly violated a protective order, and went to his home to arrest him.

“When officers arrived, Shea was uncooperative and attempted to resist arrest, and while doing so, assaulted one of the officers by pushing him,” Gudzinowicz alleged. “Shea was eventually taken into custody without further incident, and was transported to the Merrimack Police Department where he was processed.”
Shea refused bail, was held, and later, released to Manchester Police where he faces additional charges, according to police.
