Merrimack Man Charged with Assault

Police arrest James Turnquist after incident at Pearl Court.

A local man was a previous arrest history was arrested earlier this week on charges after an incident over the weekend.

James Turnquist, 25, of Pearl Court in Merrimack, was arrested on Dec. 7, and charged with simple assault and criminal mischief.

According to police, officers were sent to a home on Pearl Court at around 6:45 p.m. on Dec. 7, for a domestic disturbance.

When officers arrived, the victim, a woman, as well as witnesses, alleged that Turnquist had damaged property and committed assault. Afterward, he fled the residence in an unknown direction but later turned up at the Merrimack Police Department.

Turnquist was arrested and arraigned on Dec. 10, in Merrimack District Court.

According to reports, Turnquist was arrested last year for allegedly lying on a gun application. In 2012, he was reportedly arrested for OUI and criminal mischief in August 2007.
