Merrimack Named to SafeWise 20 Safest Cities in NH List

The 2016 listing is out, based on FBI data, population, and demographics.

MERRIMACK, NH — The latest rankings of safe communities in the Granite State put together by The SafeWise Report is out and Merrimack made the Top 20, according to the rankings. The study analyzed FBI crime data from 2014 along with population data.

Merrimack was listed as 15th in the state.

Many of the safest “cities” on the list aren’t cities at all but, instead, are towns. The org removed all communities with fewer than 3,000 residents as well as any community that failed to submit complete data to the FBI.

According to the data, Atkinson is ranked No. 1 in the state followed by Danville, Chester, Nottingham, and Weare.

In a statement, the Merrimack Police Department noted that this marks the town’s second year on the SafeWise list of safest cities.

"The Merrimack Police Department is extremely proud to be part of such a strong community and will continue to focus on keeping the community safe," the statement noted.
