Merrimack Police Charge Man Who Fled Car Crash In May

MERRIMACK, NH — A Manchester man has been charged with felony falsifying physical evidence following an incident in Merrimack on May 22. Merrimack Police said Luis Angel Cruz, 22, is one of two men involved in a crime spree that included an illegal cash exchange, road rage incident and car crash.

Merrimack Police said they responded to a Greeley Street report in May of a car that was unoccupied and smoking after being involved in a crash. Witnesses said that two people had fled from the car toward Whitney Street. Merrimack Police said that at about the same time they received word from New Hampshire State Police that there was another abandoned car near Exit 11 on the Everett Turnpike that was believed to be involved in an armed robbery. Two men in that car had also fled into the woods.

Merrimack Police dispatch received several calls that two men were attempting to break into a town business while holding large amounts of cash, but were unsuccessful. Witnesses said the men were seen running up Hoyt Street.

Merrimack Police found the men, including Cruz, on Hoyt Street and they were arrested while in possession of large amounts of cash. Police said they concluded after further investigation that the men had been involved in an illegal cash exchange and road rage incident that began in Nashua.

Cruz is scheduled to appear in the Hillsborough Superior Court-South on Oct. 10.
