Merrimack Police: Expect Traffic Delays Sunday

Advisory: Expect delays on Continental Boulevard in the area of Camp Sargent, Tinker Roads, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. due to a triathlon.

From the Merrimack Police Department:

On Sunday the YMCA of Greater Nashua is having a triathlon which will cause traffic delays and road closures. Starting at 8 a.m. Camp Sargent Road between Tinker Road and Continental Boulevard will be closed to thru traffic. Triathlon participants will be able to park at the Veterans Park located on Robert Brundige Way (area of 157 Camp Sargent Road). Enter from the Tinker Road side as traffic will not be allowed Southbound on Camp Sargent Road from Continental Boulevard.

There will be traffic delay’s and back-ups on Continental Boulevard during this event as cycling participants make their way across Continental Boulevard at Camp Sargent Road and Tinker Roads between 9:00 AM and 11:00 AM. Delays will also be experienced on Naticook Road between Continental Boulevard and Camp Sargent Road as the runners make their way.

  • Camp Sargent Road from Continental Boulevard to Tinker Road: 8 AM - 12:30 PM
  • Ingham Road at Camp Sargent Road: 8 AM
  • Camp Sargent Road at Tinker Road; 8 AM - 12:30 PM (Race participants will be able to enter to park at the Veterans Park)
  • Naticook Road at Camp Sargent Road: 8:45 AM - 12:30 PM
  • Tinker Road at Continental Boulevard: 9 AM - 12:30 PM

Use caution in this area due to bicyclist and runners participating in the event.

The cycling route runs from the YMCA Camp at 141 Camp Sargent Road to Continental Boulevard, Industrial Drive, Daniel Webster Highway southbound into Nashua, Manchester Street, Tinker Roads in Nashua and Merrimack and finishing at Camp Sargent Road.

The runners will be running from the YMCA Camp on Camp Sargent Road, Tinker Road, Continental Boulevard, Naticook Road finishing at the YMCA Camp on Camp Sargent Road.

And as a reminder; NH RSA 265:143-a Drivers to Exercise Due Care When Approaching Bicycle. – Every driver of a vehicle, when approaching a bicyclist, shall insure the safety and protection of the bicyclist and shall exercise due care by leaving a reasonable and prudent distance between the vehicle and the bicycle. The distance shall be presumed to be reasonable and prudent if it is at least 3 feet when the vehicle is traveling at 30 miles per hour or less, with one additional foot of clearance required for every 10 miles per hour above 30 miles per hour.
