Premium Outlets Announce Opening Date

Owners of the outlet shopping center also added 31 stores to the list of incoming retailers.

Mark your calendars for June 14. That is the day the Merrimack Premium Outlets will open their doors, according to a press release this morning.

The outlet mall will hold a four-day grand opening celebration from June 14-17. The press release also listed the names of 31 more stores that will open at the shopping center in the middle of June. (A list of all the stores released at this point is below.) This brings the total list of stores coming to the center to 54.

The mall will be home to 100 designer and brand-name outlets that will fill 410,000 square feet of lease-able space, the press release says. The center will also house a food court and is approved for four restaurants and a 200-room hotel in later phases of the project.

The newly-released stores include Calvin Klein, Chico's, Cole Haan, Converse, Elie Tahari, Lucky Brand Puma and Tommy Hilfiger, among others. They will join the likes of Nike, Bloomingdale's, Sak's Fifth Avenue, Coach, Anne Taylor, Gap, Banana Republic, Bose and more.

“Today’s savvy shoppers have discovered that our outlet centers offer the best of both worlds – high quality at great savings,” said Michele Rothstein, senior vice president of marketing at Premium Outlets/Simon. “Merrimack Premium Outlets will provide shoppers with the opportunity to purchase designers labels and leading brands at substantial savings in an appealing atmosphere. This is an area with sophisticated consumers, making it perfect for the type of upscale outlet centers we develop.”

At the end of December, Patch learned 22 stores had been approved for permits to “fit up” their stores in the mall space. This was the first look at a large chunk of stores that would open in the mall, ending months of mystery led by the outlet owners who have remained mum until now about the retailers.

In August, Sak's Fifth Avenue issued a press release announcing the opening of five new Sak's brand OFF 5th outlets, including one in Merrimack. The 28,000 square foot store is currently the largest retailer announced for the mall. Last week, Bloomingdale's announced it would open a 25,000 square foot store, serving as a second anchor store at the outlets.

In addition to providing a shopping center unlike any Merrimack has seen in town before, the outlets will add 800 full- and part-time jobs. A job fair will be held sometime in April, the press release said.

Last week, Chico's posted an ad hiring a manager for a new store at the Merrimack Premium Outlets. Similar listings have been posted for Brooks Brothers and Levi Strauss.
