Merrimack School Placed in Lockdown
UPDATED: Breaking: Police were called to the school to investigate gun shots or fireworks on Sept. 12.
MERRIMACK, NH — The Reeds Ferry School on Lyons Road in Merrimack was placed in lockdown by police after a report of gun shots or fireworks being fired near the elementary school on Sept. 12, 2016, according to to police and scanner chatter. Police were called to the school today to investigate the incident. Jeffrey Hastings of Frame of Mind Photography, who took these photos at the scene, reported that parents were picking up their children after the lockdown. Police later posted a note on Facebook stating that the gunshots were coming from a wooded area behind the school.
"The school was placed into a temporary lock-down as police checked the area," according to the alert posted at just after 3:15 p.m. "We checked the area and made sure everything was safe. The lock-down has since been lifted. Thank you for patience."
