Merrimack High To Hold Presentation About the Dangers of Vaping
Parents and Students of the Merrimack Community are Encouraged to Attend

The Students Against Destructive Decisions organization at Merrimack High School will be holding an informational seminar to address the current youth vaping epidemic on November 14th from 6-8pm in the MHS theatre. Unfortunately over the past year, vaping has significantly gained in popularity among middle and high school students nationwide. Due to a lack of regulations, harmful chemicals such as formaldehyde and acrolein are often hidden inside "vape juice" or "e-liquid", the substance used to produce the vapor. Also, according to nnepc.org, in 2016, approximately 750,000 teenagers were introduced to nicotine, a highly addictive substance, for the first time through vaping. With statistics like this, SADD, along with the Merrimack School District, has decided to step up and organize this event to spread the word about how dangerous vaping is.
SADD has partnered with several organizations including the Northern New England Poison Control Center, Breathe NH, the Merrimack Police Department, Convenient MD, Smith and Nephew company, and school district staff for this presentation. All members of the community are encouraged to attend the event, especially parents and students of Merrimack High School and Middle School.
