MYA Wrestling Competes in 2nd Annual Queen City Classic
Luke Dewar grabs first career win and pin
The Merrimack Youth Wrestling program attended the annual Queen City Classic held at Central High School in Manchester, NH on February 4, 2018.
The highlight of the tournament was an exhibition match between Luke Dewar and his opponent from the Manchester Police Athletc League (MPAL) Derek Jones. Luke has been a long time fan cheering on his brothers who have been wrestling for Merrimack for nearly a decade. Luke is an extraordinarily kind boy who always has a smile on his face. He is MYA’s #1 fan and today we all got to cheer him on for his first career match! Luke is developmentally delayed but he wrestled tough and with the help of his dad and coach Jeff Dewar, grabbed his first career pin. His competitor Derek Jones, a third grader from Beech Street School in Manchester, NH, exhibited great sportsmanship during the match. Luke wrestled the whole match with a huge smile on his face!
The K-8 tournament was round robin style with three experience levels: Beginner, Novice and Select. Merrimack sent twenty-two wrestlers to the tournament with individual results below:
