MYA Wrestling Competes in Chelmsford Youth Wrestling Tournament
9 Merrimack Youth Wrestlers Compete in Competitive Chelmsford Tournament
The Merrimack Youth Wrestling Program competed in the Annual Chelmsford Youth Wrestling Tournament held at Chelmsford High School in Chelmsford, MA on January 6, 2019. The highly attended tournament drew very good talent from all over MA and NH. Nine wrestlers from the MYA competed with individual results below:
Kindergartner Matthew Snavely secured his career first champ title securing one win by pin and one by points.
Kameron Lewis, grade 1, placed second on the podium clinching both his wins by pins.

3rd grader Ryan Marone fought hard in a very competitive bracket bringing home 4th place medal.
Fourth grader Rhys Dewar breezed through his bracket pinning two of his opponents and defeating his third by points. Luke Emond wrestled tough taking fourth place on the podium.

Jackson Meehan, grade 5 defeated his first two opponents by points both by major decision. He narrowly fell in his final match 0-1 to earn second place. Nicolin Stevens defeated his first competitor by points taking home third place medal.
Sixth grader Ivey Johnson had two wins by points and grabbed second place medal.
Owen Forrest, grade 7 made a strong showing in one of the most competitive brackets on the day. He defeated his first opponent by pin taking home third place medal against some of the best competitors in New England.
The Merrimack Youth Wrestling Program is part of the Merrimack Youth Association. It strives to provide a safe recreational activity for Merrimack children in grades K-8. The program promotes the sport of wrestling, the world's oldest sport, by providing a safe practice environment, by delivering high quality instruction, and by facilitating tournament competition opportunities. The Program is in its 14th season and currently has 40 wrestlers on its roster.
