MYA Wrestling Competes in Double Header in Derry Tournaments

Calissa Bell represents Merrimack at Derry All-Girls Tournament

The Merrimack Youth Wrestling Program attended the 22nd Annual New England Rebel Classic held at Pinkerton Academy in Derry, NH on March 17, 2019.The tournament was an Ohio Tournament of Champions and Gene Mills Nationals Qualifier. Calissa Bell also participated in the All Girls Derry Rebel Classic. This event attracts great talent given the large venue and opportunity to participate in a female only tournament. Merrimack brought six wrestlers to compete in the last regular season tournament for the MYA with individual results below:

Bennett Meehan wrestled tough in the kindergarten bracket.

Calissa Bell represented well for the Merrimack females in the All Girls tournament competing against very tough competition.

Kameron Lewis, grade 1, wrestled very well on the day pinning his first opponent, beating his second by points and taking home second place medal.

Rhys Dewar, grade 4, swept through his bracket with ease as he has all season long. He pinned all of his opponents en route to first place medal.

Jackson Meehan and John Regal represented for Merrimack's fifth grade contingent. Meehan wrestled tough pinning his first two opponents to take second place on the podium. Regal wrestled very tough on the day.

The Merrimack Youth Wrestling Program is part of the Merrimack Youth Wrestling Program. It strives to provide a safe recreational activity in grades K-8. The program promotes the sport of wrestling, the world's oldest sport, by providing a safe practice environment, by delivering high quality instruction, and by facilitating tournament competition opportunities. The program is in its 14th season and currently has 40 wrestlers on the roster.
