Nashua Man Charged With DWI On The Daniel Webster Highway

Merrimack Police: Austen Pyles was arrested after allegedly being in a parked vehicle with its lights on outside of a closed business.

MERRIMACK, NH — A local man was arrested for drunk driving last week after allegedly falling asleep inside of a running vehicle, according to police. Austen Pyles, 21, of Swan Street in Nashua, was arrested on Nov. 21, 2017, for driving while intoxicated-liquor and open container. At just before 1 a.m. last Saturday morning, an officer reportedly saw a vehicle parked with its lights on in the parking lot of a closed business on the Daniel Webster Highway, according to Sgt. Chris Spillane of the Merrimack Police Department.

“Upon further investigation, the officer observed the vehicle was running with a male occupant sleeping in the driver’s seat,” Spillane alleged. “The officer was able to wake the occupant.”

After speaking with Pyles, the officer allegedly observed signs of impairment and then, after a field sobriety test, he was arrested. The officer also allegedly found an open container in the vehicle.

Pyles was processed and released on personal recognizance bail. He’s due in court on Nov. 21.
