Noodles For Noggins Raises $2,000 for Birthday Books

Annual fundraiser celebrated its fifth anniversary in March.

This March marked the fifth anniversary of the James Mastricola Upper Elementary School literacy fundraiser known as Noodles for Noggins and with more than 40 prizes donated by local businesses and more than $2,000 raised, it was a great success.

More than 260 students and their families packed the JMUES All-Purpose Room to enjoy a spaghetti and meatball dinner with all the fixings. Chef Rousseau (Mrs. Goodman's father) took charge of the kitchen again with his super sidekicks Mrs. Treloar, Mrs. Fitzgerald and Mr. Tanner. As the delicious desserts were devoured, everyone anxiously waited for their number to be called during the much anticipated Penny Social Raffle. Many lucky guests headed home with a little extra something.

Year in and year out, local businesses continue to show strong support to this event by donating some fantastic prizes. JMUES families also help out tremendously by donating items that fill out special themed baskets that are always very popular. Started back in 2008, the fundraiser continues to support the reading program at JMUES. The newest venture ensures that every JMUES student receives a book on their birthday.
