The family, according to Det. Scott Park “grew suspicious of Torres when they were told that she had been seen coming out from a back bedroom in the man's home,” a place where she should not have been.

“Several days later, a significant amount of jewelry had been discovered missing from their deceased mother's collection,” according to Park. “Family members contacted Merrimack Police on Monday April 11, to report the missing items. Through the use of a law enforcement database search, police learned that Torres had pawned and or sold many pieces of jewelry dating back to September 2014.”

Police were able to recover some of the victim’s deceased wife’s jewelry including her diamond wedding ring and band from two separate gold buyers in Nashua. They also recovered some jewelry that had been unaccounted for. Park noted that police were still investigating Torres and were working with the health care firm to track down and speak to all over her assigned cases.

Torres was arrested, arraigned on April 14, and held on $10,000 cash bail.
