Guindon was one of three officers responding Saturday afternoon to the home of Ronald Hamilton, 32, a staff sergeant with the U.S. Army.

He allegedly shot each of the officers — the other two are still in critical condition. After Hamilton’s arrest, police found his wife’s body in the house. Crystal Hamilton, 29, also died from a gunshot wound.

Guindon had been sworn in to serve with Prince William County just a day before the shooting.

According to her online profile, Guindon graduated Merrimack High School in 2005.

She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in aeronautics from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach and also received a master’s degree in forensics. She served in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve and came from a family of law enforcement.

She had been assigned to work patrol in eastern Prince William County. Guindon had a history with the department, serving as a forensics intern in 2011 while pursuing her master’s degree.
