Person Found Dead After Explosion Near Merrimack-Bedford Town Line: Police Follow-Up
An explosion on Tuesday led to the death of one person — but police say there is no sign of foul play and no threats to the public.

MERRIMACK, NH — Police in Merrimack have wrapped up an investigation into an explosion near the town line with Bedford and revealed one person died during the incident Tuesday.
Around 1:30 p.m., police and fire and rescue teams were called to the area of Pearson Road and Grapevine Road for numerous reports of an explosion in the area, Chief Brian Levesque said.
“Upon their arrival, evidence of a possible explosion was observed, and the scene and surrounding areas were secured,” he said.

At first, it was reported a pump house may have exploded, but when the scene was secured, it was intact. A large crater was reported at the crime scene near the pump house.
On Grapevine Road, several items on the ground appeared to come from the explosion, including a small cylindrical object, a metal nut, and pieces of plastic and metal.

Police were assisted in their investigation by Bedford police, the Nashua Police Bomb Squad, the ATF, FBI, New Hampshire State Police Explosive Disposal Unit, and the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, Levesque said.
A person was found dead after the scene was secured and rendered safe. There was, however, no sign of foul play, with Levesque adding there were no threats to the public.
Police will not be commenting further on the case.
